Oktoberfest - a truly German tradition
Oktoberfest is a traditional Bavarian holiday, but the fame of it spread to the whole world, and millions of tourists come to Munich every year to immerse themselves in the festival atmosphere of this unforgettable holiday.
This tradition of celebration appeared relatively recently, namely, on October 12 in 1810, when the Bavarian crown Prince Ludwig celebrated his wedding with the Saxon Princess Theresa. The Royal couple, contrary to all canons, invited everyone to celebrate their wedding, so for five days about forty thousand residents of Munich celebrated the wedding of the Prince and Princess. The following year, the people decided to celebrate the anniversary of their marriage, since then it was customary to celebrate this wonderful tradition every year and only after some time the holiday began to be considered beer and all-German. During the 16 days of the Oktoberfest celebration, about 1,320,860 gallons of beer is drunk, more than 400 thousand fried pork sausages and about 480 thousand fried chickens are eaten, not without the help of, of course, more than six million tourists who visit this holiday.
